Event Planning
BrickFair, AL, January 17 - 20, 2013
We're returning for year 2 with a much bigger presence! Location Birmingham, AL. BJCC (East Hall). Public Hours Saturday, Jan 19: 11AM - 4PM Sunday, Jan 20: 11AM - 4PM Setup Thursday, Jan 17: noon - midnight Friday, Jan 18: 9AM - midnight There are also lots of fun events Thursday and Friday, so plan on sticking around for most of each day. We will need to be finished with all setup Friday night! We'll also need to have at least 3 or 4 people manning the display during the public hours. It will be packed! I'm pleased to report that everyone has registered and paid! If you're part of the layout, feel free to register any of your MOCs under the "Tennessee Valley LEGO Club" collaborative. All that means is that your MOC is on the layout as opposed to a theme table. By registering your MOC, it will be eligible for voting. If you've got a standalone MOC, register it under the appropriate theme. Do not register it as a collaborative. If you do, you won't have a place to put it! To handle the transportation aspect, Pete will have a trailer that will accommodate all of the tables and any MOCs. Coordinate with him to pickup your items Jan 14-16. He will need all tables so that they can be setup Thursday, permitting everyone to setup their displays as they come in. Pete will be unloading at the BJCC on the 17th at noon. If you can't be present then or if you can't make it to the show, but want to send items, no problem, just let Pete know. Southerland Station Open House, December 1 & 2, 2012
It's our 5 year anniversary at Southerland Station, where it all began for the Tennessee Valley LEGO Club! This year promises to be one of our best ever as participation looks to be at an all time high! We have our classic "L" planned along with a sizable MOC table in front of the window and our typical play brick area. Hopefully, we'll have the room all to ourselves! Public Hours: December 1: 9AM-5PM December 2: 1PM-5PM Setup: We have access to the room the week prior and the week after. They will keep it locked for us. Still, I recommend loading in Thursday Nov 29 and Friday Nov 30 with table joining/final setup occurring Friday between 5 and 8PM. I also recommend having everything removed no later than Monday the 3rd. As far as manning the display goes, we only need to be there during the public hours and should plan on at least 3-4 people at any one time. For MOCs, I'd like to encourage labels containing the builder's name, club affiliation and a title and/or description of the MOC/display. Please send that info to Pete. Jennifer is planning to coordinate a "seek and find." Please send her your list for this. Participants: Chris: 2 tables (water scene) Jennifer: 2 tables (water scene) Le: 1 table Pete: 2 tables, playbrick table, banner, posters, power strips, business cards, trains Scott: 2 tables, standards, chain, controllers (Pete will bring the standards, chain & controllers) David Bissell: 1 table Caleb: 1 table Charles: 3 tables, trains, MOCs (GBC), table skirt, standards, play brick (Pete will bring the table skirt & play brick) Jared: 2 tables (WWII) David Sparks: MOCs (GBC?) Huntsville Depot, July 14, 2012
The Depot plan is coming together. The staff recently confirmed the public hours will be from 9AM-4PM. We can start setup at 7:30AM and will need to start tearing down at 3PM to be out of there by 4. This year, Curt will be setting up his stop motion display in the film room. In the main display area, we'll be setting up as usual while also providing some space for the junior clubs. The above diagram is up to date to the best of my knowledge. Please let Pete know if there are any changes that need to be made. For MOCs, and generally any display other than the train layout, I'd like to encourage labels containing the builder's name, club affiliation and a title and/or description of the MOC/display. For the train & town display, Jennifer is planning to coordinate a "seek and find." Please send her your list for this.
